Silence is not an option.
When we learned about Fabiola Martínez’s story, we didn’t hesitate to get in touch with her to share our work and suggest organising an event like the one we held yesterday. She welcomed the idea with open arms and, after several months, the day finally arrived.
Of everything we shared and all the ideas that emerged, one particularly important message she gave us stayed with us: silence is not an option. We must talk about it if we want to change this reality.
The Specialised Psychological Support Service we provide, thanks to the unwavering support of CaixaBank, ”la Caixa” Foundation and CaixaForum, reminds us day after day of how important this message is. It drives us to continue raising awareness, preventing sexual abuse and providing training, while also creating safe and welcoming spaces where people can share what they have been unable to put into words.
When we look back and reflect on RANA’s journey, we feel deeply grateful to all the people who cross our path and who, like Fabiola, give us the strength to keep going.
Because children and adolescents have the right to grow up in a society that is aware of its responsibilities and committed to protecting them from sexual abuse.
Thank you, Fabiola, for your generosity, your courage and for reminding us that breaking the silence is also a way to transform reality.
