TROPICALIA ISLAND
FUNDACIÓN RANA
Since its beginnings, RANA Foundation has been committed to prevention as a key strategy for addressing the reality of child and adolescent sexual abuse. Through this approach, we protect the health and well-being of children and young people at every level, create safe environments, promote education as a tool for social transformation, break the stigma and silence surrounding this issue, and encourage a sense of shared responsibility: ending this problem requires everyone’s involvement.
Years of experience working with children and adolescents, as well as with their families and professionals from different fields, have led us to important insights that inspired the creation of Tropicalia Island:
In response to these insights, this book was created to encourage shared reading between children and their families and to make it possible—through naturalness, trust, and enjoyment—to talk about essential aspects of sexual abuse prevention.
The main goal of Tropicalia Island is to help children internalize values and self-protection tools. Learning to set boundaries, identify intimate and private body parts, and understand the importance of asking for help—among many other concepts—are explored in the story through everyday situations and the experiences of Nil and Mango.
At RANA Foundation, our aim is also to remove fears and doubts among families and professionals who work with children and adolescents. That is why we provide this website with key information to help you become a trusted adult for children and contribute your grain of sand to the cause with confidence and assurance.
